CONTACTING THE FBI
Our security solutions were simple to start with. Hire a security guard. That was the beginning. We needed to do so much more. Time was not on our side though. We needed to finish the job and get an entire system in place quickly. We didn't want to suffer any more losses. We didn't know who had broken in yet, but it was a sure bet that they would be coming back. The police seemed to think that who ever did break in weren't amateurs. They even suggested we contact the FBI. That really sent a chill. We asked the police to tell us why we should bring the FBI in on this, and why they thought it was their jurisdiction. The police then walked us through the crime scene. Once we saw that who ever broke in used some sophisticated equipment and had targeted some really classified items we were ready to make that call to the FBI. Right about then our head of IT calls and tells me that our computer system has been compromised. It seemed like we were under attack. I had no idea by whom, or why. I asked Oscar, our IT chief what he thought, and could he trace the person or computer that was doing this.
