FEMINIST ACTION

Hair loss and baldness is always seen as men’s problem. However, female baldness is also a very alarming problem. Female baldness is mostly due to androgenic alopecia. Also known as female pattern loss, androgenic alopecia causes a significant thinning of hair on the front part and the top of the head. Androgenic alopecia does not mean complete loss of hair but balding in certain areas of head. The beginning of hair loss in women can begin as early as puberty. If such is the case, the reason of hair loss is hormonal imbalance. Hormonal imbalance can be detected by presence of excessive facial hair and body hair. Hair loss in women is most of the times caused by change in hormones. For example hair loss can start after pregnancy or after menopause. Hair fall can also occur when the intake of the birth control pills are stopped. Even psychological stress can cause hair loss. There are many cosmetic ways by which the hair loss in women can be disguised. One can perm or dye the hair or to give the hair more volume. There are many drugs and treatments available. It is best to consult a doctor if the hair fall is quite severe to avoid complications and baldness.
