GOVERNMENTAL LAWS

Nobody wants to go back to the bad old days when there were no consumer protection laws, but sometimes the government might be going too far in creating laws that can cripple or kill entire industries.  This has the unintended effect of throwing a bunch of people out of work.  I'm not saying, Don't have them, but at least investigate the effects of what might happen when a law is suddenly enacted.  It can be chaos for those already in the industry, and often times it can mean that their business will not survive.  I have seen this happen a couple of times over the years, where a new law will come down and suddenly what was perfectly legal one day is against the law the next.  Usually this happens in reaction to some event or problem.  The legislators jump on the bandwagon and pass laws without thinking through what the consequences will be.  It can even hurt their own voters, but as along as they get the publicity of looking like they are doing something, then they don't seem to mind.  That is why it is better to take some time and have some hearings about what a new law might do to those who could be effected by it.
